This is a watercolor painting of a male black-bellied Crimson Finch. Found mostly in northern Australia, this bird dresses in a brilliant red outfit with a black belly. While researching finches I fell in love with this bold color and just had to put brush to paper!
This little bird is part of my Summer Birds collection. All of these birds were painted in the summer of 2021. The Crimson Finch comes from a photo by David Clode on Unsplash.

This is a watercolor painting of a Goldfinch. It is the original, not a print. Goldfinches are a symbol of prosperity and abundance, and finding joy in the present moment. This little bird is part of my Summer Birds collection. All of these birds were (and some still are!) painted in the summer of 2021. This Goldfinch was inspired by a lovely photograph by Joshua J. Cotton of Unsplash.

DWatercolor cut-paper collage of leaves beginning their seasonal color change, size 10" x 14"
This Watercolor Cut-Paper Collage is the second painting I have done under the theme of Changing Seasons. Some of the leaves are still green, but they may become the gold or pale orange as the others have done. Autumn has begun its regal dance as the weather cools and the colors change.
The leaves and veins I cut from paper painted for previous projects. I believe in using as much as possible of the paper so as not to waste any, so I keep the color bits categorized by color. The backgrounds I painted for this project are based on the colors I chose for the plants. I loved the meditative feel of creating these leaf paintings; the repetition in leaf and layout, the gentle flow of color on the background papers.
The colors of this art may vary slightly from your monitor's screen. It is best to keep watercolor art out of direct or reflected sunlight.
